Ibiza’s unrivalled open-air superclub

Ushuaïa has firmly established itself as a core part of the quintessential clubbing experience in Ibiza. This hotel and daytime club boasts huge pyrotechnic displays and fireworks no matter who you’re there to see, every day throughout the summer.

The champagne flows in the VIP cabanas, hotel guests dance on their balconies, and the main dancefloor always packed in this unmissable Ibiza extravaganza.

Ushuaïa Ibiza History

Ushuaïa started life as a beach club in 2008. Frenchman Yan Pissenem had the opportunity to purchase a venue on Playa d’en Bossa, having seen a gap in the market for clubbers in Ibiza who wanted to party in the sunshine.

Looking at the empty beach at the time, Pissenem thought it felt like the end of the world. That would turn out to the inspiration for the of the club, named after the Argentinian city Ushuaia, often called the “end of the world” due to its location near Antarctica.

The club’s popularity grew quickly, attracting the likes of Luciano, Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin and Sasha to its parties. The parties were a little different back in 2009!

As more and more flocked to the beach parties each season, it was clear a larger venue was needed. So, in 2011 Pissenem teamed up with the Paladium Group, owned by the billionaire Matutes family, who own many of the hotels in Playa d’en Bossa.

They decided to transform the hotel adjacent to the club into what is now known as the Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel, and the rest is history.

With a different music policy at every party, it has hosted the biggest names in global dance music. 2013 saw the arrival of the Ushuaïa Tower, another hotel adjacent to the main venue.

This gamble on creating a luxury hotel & day club has brought phenomenal success. Whilst Ushuaïa’s parties finish at midnight every day, the purchase of the club previously known as Space across the road, named Hï Ibiza, allows clubbers to continue their dancing long into the night.

Club Information

Ushuaïa holds up to 4,000 people.

It is completely open air, with hotel rooms looking over the central area including pool and main stage. In addition to the main stage, another smaller DJ area exists at the southern end of the venue.

VIP areas take up a considerable amount of the venue, although the main dancefloor area has the closest action to the DJ booth.

Being an outdoor venue gives Ushuaïa an extra layer of creativity when it comes to its productions. You’ll see huge mechanic ants come through the crowd during ANTS, fireworks and flamethrowers whilst listening to David Guetta, and an entire carnival atmosphere during elrow’s occasional takeovers.

The club uses a Robe lighting system, and an Adamson soundsystem, both also which are used at sister club Hï Ibiza.

“A huge sound system, fireworks galore, and an unforgettable Ibizan superclub experience”

  • Get to Ushuaïa early for a more relaxed vibe where you can still catch rays whilst enjoying the more intimate poolside DJ booth.
  • The quietest bar during peak-time is at the very front of the club, on your right hand side when looking at the main stage. That’s your best bet to avoid a long queue for a drink!
